Former Manchester United defender Antonio Valencia has revealed he would love to see former Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold at the club.

The former Liverpool right-back only ended his 20-year association with his boyhood club last summer as he joined European rivals Real Madrid on a free transfer at the end of his contract.

The England international started just 14 league matches last season and reports have claimed that the defender is not happy in the Spanish capital where he is underappreciated.

Now, with new manager Jose Mourinho making huge changes to the squad which includes adding Denzel Dumfries in defence, Alexander-Arnold may not have a place in the side.

Valencia has spoken to Hajper about how United could be an escape route for the former Liverpool star in what seems like an unlikely move.

“Trent is a player I like a lot. He has a very good right foot, he crosses well, and he is a player who defends well.

“He would be very good for Manchester United. He knows the Premier League. He knows what it means to win the Champions League and the Premier League. He is a passionate player, and I would like to see him at Manchester United.

“Hopefully it could happen, because we need players like that at Old Trafford. To play at that stadium, you need people with a lot of personality.”

Alexander-Arnold will have time to weigh up his options as he was left out the England squad and didn’t receive a call when Tino Livramento was ruled out as Chelsea center-back Trevoh Chalobah was called up instead.
