Goals from Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland secured a crucial 2-1 win over Man City, who are now just three points behind Arsenal with a game in hand.
If Man City beat 18th placed Burnley by more than one goal on Wednesday, they will leapfrog Arsenal into first.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Silva admitted he is surprised to see his side in the position they’re in.
"Very big because it puts us in a position if we win our game in hand we're on the same points,” he said.
“Two weeks ago this didn't look very likely, this scenario. I'm happy we can be on the same points.
"It's a long season. A lot of small details didn't go our way this season. Also unlucky plays, we missed a lot of chances.
“A lot of games we should have won. Today things went our way. I'm really happy."
On whether it feels emotional because it's his last season with the club, he added: "I made the decision a long time ago so its been emotional all season because I knew my decision.
“I just want to finish on a good end with trophies. I am doing my best for this club until the end."
