Malick Thiaw is full of praise for club and country teammate Nick Woltemade.

The Germany pair joined Newcastle over the summer.

Thiaw said,  "I think it was really a good start. I think he made it way easier for him because he's a great player.

"There's now no discussion about that. I think he already showed it as well, but he knows about that.

"But of course, if you've got the number nine tag, you have some pressure on back.

"So we have to score. And now he can just play his game and show the people what he can do for this club, and I think everybody here around this club would be really, really happy for him, really happy with his performance here."

On the demands of the Premier League, Thiaw also said: "I guess the intensity, we talked about how intense he is. Last weekend, the Arsenal game, that must be as physical, an intense a battle as you get anywhere playing against that Arsenal, and against Gabriel.

"I think at one point he practically clipped around the face, it was so physical. Yeah, this game was so hard for everybody he did so well because he’s new.

"He hasnt played many games. But I think he would adapt to it, yeah. I'm sure about that."
