Thiago played under former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp for three years and was part of the squad that won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

The Spaniard hung up his boots after his Liverpool contract expired at the end of the 2023/24 season but did return to Spanish giants Barcelona, as part of manager Hansi Flick’s team shortly after the German’s arrival at Camp Nou.

As reports linked with a return to Merseyside, former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand about whether he was interested in the Liverpool job to which Thiago revealed he does not have the qualifications.

"No, man. I don't have the badges," he said. "I don't have the badges enough to be a coach."

The bad news for Liverpool fans is that in the United Kingdom, coaches are required to hold either a UEFA Pro License or UEFA A License to take up a permanent senior first-team coaching positions.

Thiago will have to work towards such badges if he does want to make the switch to full time coaching either with Liverpool or in the UK in general, something that would take months or even years to complete.
