Liverpool are fourth in the Premier League table but are only ahead of fifth-placed Villa on goal difference in what is a nervy end of the campaign for Slot who has come under immense pressure in recent months.

The Reds also suffered a disappointing stalemate in the Premier League last weekend against Chelsea and now must bounce back if they are to join Europe’s elite in the new campaign.

Villa have only taken one point from their last three league games whilst Liverpool have lost three of their last four Premier League matches on their travels.

Ahead of the game, Slot will rely on the likes of Giorgi Mamardashvili in between the sticks alongside Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate at the back as Conor Bradley (Knee Injury), Giovanni Leoni (Knee Injury) and Alisson Becker (Other)    all miss out.

Further up the pitch, Hugo Ekitike (Calf/Shin/Heel Injury), Wataru Endo (Ankle/Foot Injury) and Florian Wirtz (Illness) are all set to be absent in what is a Liverpool side who are desperate for 3 points.

Slot confirmed Wirtz has a “stomach infection” and is “on antibiotics” ahead of the game in what will be a late call for the German international.

The good news is that Mohamed Salah returns to the fold in one of his final games for the club before he departs this summer. This is his last away clash as he prepares to wave goodbye to fans.
