Everton had already seen an opening offer for Dibling turned down this summer before they launched another earlier this week. The Toffees recent bid was reported to be worth in the region of £40M including add-ons, but despite such a huge price for the teenager, Southampton did not believe it was enough.
Dibling finished his first Premier League campaign with four goals and three assists in 38 appearances for the Saints, despite the side enduring a dire campaign and being relegated long before the season had ended. The 19 year old is desperate to leave and make his way back to England’s top division which Everton can provide.
Now, according to journalist David Ornstein, Southampton have countered Everton’s latest offer as they bump up the price to get the most money out of the deal as possible.
“Southampton make counter bid to Everton after latest Tyler Dibling offer. #SaintsFC rejected ~£40m & came back at £45m + £5m easily achievable adds + 25% sell-on. No plans to reduce price. Above #EFC valuation so considering other targets.”
Everton have completed four signings this summer in Carlos Alcaraz, the striker Thierno Barry, goalkeeper Mark Travers and the young left-back Adam Aznou. They have also agreed a deal for Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as manager David Moyes continues to bring in new faces who he feels can take the side to the next level. Dibling could be the next signing to arrive in Merseyside in the next few weeks as negotiations continue.
