Despite some of his peers having their doubts, Shearer is already convinced by the Arsenal centre-forward.
"I think to get the most out of him he will need early balls into the box. It's a wonderful ball across, but the hardest part is for the winger to serve it for Gyökeres (the goal against Nottingham)," he told PLP after Gyokeres scored in victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
"First ball, early ball, that's exactly what he demands.
"If Arsenal keep doing that... they still didn't get the balance right as I said at half-time, but I thought it was a bit better in the second half when (Riccardo) Calafiori got one or two early balls in. He'll score a lot of goals if they keep getting the balls into the box early."
