Everton remain confident former captain Seamus Colman will rejoin the club as a coach after his retirement from playing in the coming years.

The Toffees legend opted to leave the club when his contract expired last month as he's keen to keep on playing for at least another season.

Prior to his exit from the Hill Dickinson Stadium, David Moyes confirmed Coleman was offered a coaching role at Everton, but he wants to remain involved with the Republic of Ireland set up heading towards UEFA Euro 2028 qualification.

The Boys in Green missed out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup after losing to Czechia in March's playoffs, and despite his injury issues, Coleman remains vital for his national team.

The 37-year-old is yet to confirm his next step, but he wants to stay in the Premier League, after setting an EPL appearance record for Everton (374).

Coventry City and a reunion with Frank Lampard has been suggested, but the door remains open to Coleman back at Everton, according to former Everton senior scout Bryan King.

"I know he's (Coleman) been offered a job on the coaching staff," King told Football Insider.

"Whether he takes it or not, something else, as I know he wants to continue playing."

Coleman's call beyond 2027 will depend on Ireland's progress in the race for Euro 2028 - which remains as his final goal before retirement.
