Salah limped out of Liverpool's win over Crystal Palace last weekend, just weeks after he announced that he will depart the club for good as soon as the season is over.
He was replaced just before the hour mark, and applauded the supporters who were in attendance at Anfield as he left the pitch for many believed could be the final time as a player.
Now, as per Ibrahim Hassan, Egypt's national team director, Salah's nine-year spell at Liverpool has come to an sudden end in what is a shocking blow.
"He has suffered a hamstring tear and will require four weeks of treatment," Hassan stated.
Liverpool will face a trip to third-placed Manchester United on Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford before clashing with Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brentford on the final day of the season.
This final clash is at Anfield, where Salah could wave goodbye to fans in crutches as he recovers from his knock that will put him outside of the plans of manager Arne Slot over the coming month.
Salah’s final total for the club stands at 440 appearances and 257 goals as he leaves the side as a Liverpool legend that will never be forgotten.
The Reds are currently identifying long-term candidates to succeed Salah which includes the likes of Morgan Rogers and Yan Diomande as talks commence over the coming weeks.
