After suffering a hamstring injury against Leeds United in August, Saka was left on the sidelines as Arsenal fell to the likes of Liverpool on the pitch. The winger wasn’t rushed back and was absent from England’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia whilst he watched from home.
However, Saka is now back and fit enough to start for manager Mikel Arteta, who has relied on the England international with Noni Madueke out injured until late November.
The winger spoke about his recovery in a recent interview and revealed that his new pet has helped keep morale up.
“I spent a lot of time with my family, with myself. I got a puppy as well, so he helped me keep my spirits high - he kept me busy as well. It was hard work at the start.”
His new responsibilities as a pet owner have obviously helped, as he is also now back in the England side under Thomas Tuchel after scoring against Olympiacos in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Saka should feature in England's friendly against Wales at Wembley and a World Cup qualifier against Latvia on October 14th as he balances football with the ownership of his new puppy that, although just a dog, can help with mental health and the stress of being a footballer.
