The 23-year-old has impressed since leaving Chelsea for Arsenal in the summer transfer window, taking his chance while first-choice Bukayo Saka recovers from injury.
Madueke was a constant threat to Man City throughout the game, and came close to scoring his first Arsenal goal, forcing a fine save from Gianluigi Donnarumma just before half-time.
He didn’t walk out with his teammates at half-time, however, as Gabriel Martinelli scored in the 93rd minute to secure a late point for Arsenal
When asked about whether the half-time substitution that saw him replace Madueke with Saka was tactical, Arteta revealed the winger ‘had an issue.’
“No, he had an issue very early in the match and he wasn't well enough to continue,” he said.
