Fernandes is one of the favourites for the Premier League player of the season award alongside Arsenal’s Declan Rice as he continues to lead United back to the Champions League.
The midfielder is in outstanding form as he prepares for internationals with Portugal, against Mexico and USA but as he leads United back to Europe, missing out on the title will still be on his mind.
Speaking to Ozoon, Saha believes Fernandes could go down as the best player to never go all the way in the Premier League.
“This player of the year talks now, he’s always been playing at such a high level for United, but never got talked about like he is now. A lot of rubbish has been spoken about him.
“Fernandes could be the best player in Premier League history that hasn't won the title, but Steven Gerrard played in a very competitive era and led Liverpool to the Champions League.
“I do think that Bruno has managed to perform in a team that has always seemed to be in transition. He deserves a lot of credit for what he has managed to do within that. He’s done brilliantly, despite not winning a title.”
The Portuguese captain has scored eight goals and provided 17 assists in all competitions this season for the Red Devils. He will be aiming to push the side into the title race next season, possibly under manager Michael Carrick.
