Despite winning the title last season and splashing the cash in the summer, Liverpool have looked like a completely different side this season.
The Reds are out of the EFL Cup and the title race as they desperately try to climb back into the top four with just a limited amount of games left to play.
Liverpool currently sit sixth in the table, 16 points adrift of leaders Arsenal and will wonder where it all went wrong under Slot who Rooney believes may not have the charisma to help lead the side back to glory.
“It's strange isn't it when you're talking about Slot being on an audition to keep his job when he has obviously recently won the Premier League.
“I have met him a couple of times, but I just don't think, for Liverpool, he has that aura – and maybe that's because Liverpool have just come off the back of Jurgen Klopp as manager – it's difficult for anyone to do that but I just don't think there is that aura about him.”
“I have spoken to managers, and I know they can be difficult at times, but if he doesn't get them top five in the Premier League, he will be gone, for sure. It's crazy to say when he has just won the Premier League.”
Slot’s side face crucial clashes against Manchester United (A, May 2nd), Chelsea (H, May 9th) and Aston Villa (A, May 17th) in the closing weeks of the season in what will be a race for the European spots.
