Amorim is under pressure at United after a poor season so far.
There have been claims that the dressing room has lost confidence in the Portuguese and the Mirror says the players have been asked for their opinion on the manager.
The discussions have been led by chief exec Omar Berrada and football director Jason Wilcox, with skipper Bruno Fernandes among those approached.
It's been suggested the talks held have been informal and weren't specifically agenda driven. However, the news emerges just days after co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe gave Amorim a public vote of confidence and insisted he was counting on Amorim for another three years.
