Rennes coach Habib Beye is urging the club not to sell Jeremy Jacquet this month.

Chelsea have struck personal terms with the young defender, who is requesting Rennes to sell him during the January market.

But speaking after Sunday's 1-1 draw with Le Havre, Beye made a plea to the Rennes board.

"I believe that today he is a very important player for our objectives,' the Rennes boss said. "If tomorrow we were to let him go, we would have to lower our expectations.

"When you have offers from such a club, it can make things a little hesitant. I'm very firm on this situation. He is an essential player for us."
