Former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp has praised Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya after a stunning performance against West Ham.

Raya won the Premier League Golden Glove award for the third year in succession on Sunday with his 18 clean sheets no longer able to be surpassed after the 1-0 win over West Ham

His nearest rival for the prize was Gianluigi Donnarumma who has kept 14 clean sheets for Manchester City, showing how dominant Arsenal’s defence has been this campaign.

Raya's incredible save to deny Matheus Fernandes in the West Ham clash was one of the highlights of the game and it was his heroics which helped hand Arsenal a 5 point advantage in the title race.

Speaking after the Gunners pushed closer to the title, Redknapp opened up on the goalkeeper who he believes is a cut above the rest.

“When you think back, this is where the manager deserves credit because when David Raya first come, I wasn’t sure about that decision,’ Redknapp said on Sky Sports.

“Arsenal already had a good goalkeeper in Aaron Ramsdale. I was thinking, “why are you making that change?

“But this season Raya has shown he’s definitely the best goalkeeper in the Premier League and maybe the best goalkeeper in the world.

“It is an unbelievable save in the moment. You have to give the goalkeeper credit. He stands up and then he flicks out his right foot. It is an unbelievable save.”

Raya joins Pepe Reina, Joe Hart and Éderson as the goalkeepers to earn the golden glove three years in a row. The Arsenal shot stopper would make history next season if he wins it next season, possibly as a Premier League champion.
