Former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is set to replace Nuno Espirito Santo as Nottingham Forest manager.

After publicly falling out with owner Evangelos Marinakis, Nuno was sacked in what was a shock move on Monday night. Forest sat 10th in the Premier League table after their opening three games of the season but it is the relationship with the Greek owner that is said to have led to his departure.

Postecoglou is expected to oversee Forest's match against Arsenal on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium in what is his first job since since he was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in June, just weeks after he lifted the Europa League trophy.

Journalist Ben Jacobs confirmed the news that Postecoglou would step into the role as he returns to the Premier League.

“Ange Postecoglou has accepted the Forest job.????

- Evangelos Marinakis' top choice

“- Nuno exit inevitable after "not good" relationship with Marinakis

“- Edu's arrival changed the dynamic

“- Ange to bring some ex-Spurs staff

“- Scott Munn in line for a role.”

After 21 months in charge, Nuno's last match in charge was a 3-0 defeat by West Ham before September's international break in what may have been the final straw. Postecoglou will become the eighth permanent manager since Marinakis took over the club in May 2017
