Speaking after the win, Maresca admitted that the previous 48 hours had been the “worst” of his time as Chelsea manager due to a “lack of support.”
Maresca was pressed who he was referring to and was even asked whether he was talking about the fans, to which he responded: "I love the fans and we are very happy with the fans."
According to the Sun, the Italian’s intended target was Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali, arguably the most powerful member of the ownership group.
Maresca believes he has been thrown under the bus for his side’s constant rotation, something that is actively been encouraged by the higher-ups, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
He addressed his ever-changing selections after the game, saying: "I took completely 100 per cent responsibility from the Leeds game. It's been my mistake in terms of the line-up, in terms of the game plan.
"It was not about the players. Again, we are getting better and better and better, especially with all these kinds of situations that we try to manage since day one."
