Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that Jeremy Doku can become a world class player if he changes his mentality.

The Belgium forward scored a stunning goal in City's 3-0 win over Brentford on Saturday as he continues to be the club’s main goalscoring threat in the final stretch of the campaign.

Guardiola was asked after the game about if the Belgian international could become as good as Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior or Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal after an uptick in form.

"Yeah, for sure," said Guardiola. "And always accept being pushed. Always accept that. And that is so nice. We are really pleased. Now he is winning games. But he has always been really, really good.”

The City boss revealed that if he is to reach such heights, the work must not be done physically but mentally instead.

"It depends on your mentality. I want to become one of the best wingers in the world. Otherwise, you're in a comfort zone and you say, 'No, it's fine, it's fine.'

“Always I've been, Jeremy, dribbles and whatever. I always try. But I say, no, I want to become one of the best of the best. That is when you reach that level."

Doku told BBC Match of the Day after the Brenford clash that his role is finally working at the club as he finds success:

"I'm an instinct player. Today it's working out. I scored some goals, I've always played with instinct but now the goals are coming.

"I haven't been a different player."

Arsenal narrowly beat West Ham to restore their five-point lead on Guardiola's side in a title race that could go right to the wire in the few games that are remaining.
