Liverpool legend Michael Owen has ripped into Milos Kerkez this week after the loss to Wolves.

The Premier League champions suffered 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday evening thanks to a late goal from André.

Andre's strike on Tuesday marked the fifth 90+ minute winner to be scored against Liverpool in the 2025-26 Premier League as Arne Slot’s defence collapsed once again.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen was unhappy with Kerkez in particluar who he believes is too nervy for the side.

"I can’t warm to Kerkez, I’m afraid. He looks like a bag of nerves, he looks like he doesn’t want the ball, he looks like he’s an emotional defender.

“He’s playing like this (shaking) all the time, it’s like, ‘calm down, man’, you’re in possession of the ball a lot of the time, just relax, it’s like he’s in a trance constantly.

“I liked Kerkez at Bournemouth, but Liverpool is a different kettle of fish. You’ve got to be able to manage pressure, all the eyes are on you, and it just looks like the club is a bit too big for him at the moment."

The Reds have only a three-point cushion over Chelsea, who face fourth-placed Aston Villa for their game in hand on Wednesday as they chase down Champions League football.

Liverpool next have to return to Molineux for Friday's FA Cup showdown as they seek revenge for the result. Whether Kerkez will start is yet to be seen as Andrew Robertson seeks to return to the side.
