West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed he is confident despite the threat of relegation.

West Ham fell to defeat against Nottingham Forest on home turf on Tuesday night, putting a dent in their survival hopes as the Hammers now sit 7 points away from safety.

A win over Forest, who are currently in 17th place, could have seen them close the gap to just one point. West Ham are in a relegation dog fight as fans worry the side will drop to the Championship.

Speaking in his latest press conference, Nuno remained calm and revealed that the gap should not be studied but instead ignored as his side aim to bounce back over the coming months.

"It is a tough situation that we are in. We are aware, but at the same time it's realising there are 17 games to go. A lot of football to be played. What we have to do is focus on ourselves, on our day-to-day. Look for that win and that win we need.

"Don't be obsessed about the gap. Try to void, if you start looking every time at the table you get more anxious. Let's try to focus on ourselves and what we have to do to compete in the 17 games in the league.

"I believe it is possible."

The loss against Forest was their tenth match without a win and West Ham must start to pick up points or risk the gap widening even more. They next face Tottenham in the league in another tough test for Nuno and his side.
