Howe’s side ended a five-game losing streak across all competitions with a much needed 3-1 Premier League win over Brighton on Saturday (May 2).

Newcastle are still down in 13th, however, with qualification for European football next season looking unlikely.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Howe retains the faith of the board and will lead them in 2026-27, barring an unexpected turn of events.
There is a caveat, however. Ornstein adds that all partied have accepted that a similarly disappointing season cannot happen again.
