Mason Mount has spoken on Manchester United's chances of winning the Premier League.

Reports this week claimed club captain Bruno Fernandes wants to win the Premier League title and the Champions League, and he wants reassurances about the club’s ambitions before signing a new deal.

The Red Devils have gone over a decade without a league title and have suffered immensely since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

Mount is nearing the conclusion of his third campaign at Old Trafford, a period marked by injuries and constant setbacks as he slowly returns from injury.

As he makes his way back into the side, the 27-year-old was asked this week about his own ambitions and whether he believes United can challenge for the title next season.

"I think we have the quality to. I have a goal of winning the Premier League. Obviously I’ve won the Champions League already, but can we do that? Yes, I think we can as a group. We have to have that kind of mentality.

"It may seem a little bit far away, but you have to have that mentality to really push yourself as a group. We've shown what we can do against the big teams already; Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, you know.

"We've already shown that this season, so we definitely can do it. It's about now doing it on a bigger stage in the Champions League and doing it more consistently in the Premier League. Hopefully, be a massive part of that moving forward next season. Yeah, it's a goal: I want to win the Premier League."

The England star recently made his comeback from injury as a substitute in Monday’s 2-1 victory over Brentford. As United build a title worthy squad for next season, he could become key to their midfield restructure under manager Michael Carrick.
