Malmo FF goalkeeper coach Zlatan Azinovic was a proud man in midweek.

Former MFF keeper Melker Ellborg made his Premier League debut for Sunderland after an injury to Robin Roefs during the win against Leeds.

Ellborg kept a clean sheet on the night, having only moved to Sunderland in January from MFF.

"It is clear that he is satisfied, especially with having made his debut, but also with the fact that they won. They needed a victory. To make his debut and win, it is clear that he is satisfied," Azinović told Fotbollskanalen, having spoken with Ellborg in the aftermath.

Roefs' injury is  expected to keep him out for a few more weeks.

Therefore, there is much evidence that Ellborg will feature in this weekend's FA Cup meeting with Port Vale.

Azinović also says that he wasn't particularly surprised when Ellborg made the step to the Premier League.

"No, not really. Of course, when you had him in the environment here, he performed. He performed very well throughout last year, actually, but it's clear that you don't go around thinking that the next step is the Premier League."

It wasn't until last year that Ellborg received his big chance in Malmö FF's senior team.

Azinović added, "You shouldn't forget that he was very good when he came to us. Then there were some loans that weren't perfect, but maybe that's not so strange. There are a lot of ups and downs. But then we got everything sorted last year, so it was a couple of years for him."
