The Red Devils announced their retained and released players list on Wednesday as manager Michael Carrick is handed work to do before the summer window opens in a few weeks time.
Sancho, 26, has not played for United since the Community Shield in August 2024 and departs as one of the most disappointing signings in club history after arriving from Borussia Dortmund for £73M in July 2021.
The England winger scoring only 12 goals and assisting six times in 83 appearances for United and his departure will be something of a relief for supporters.
Meanwhile, Michael Carrick paid tribute to both Casemiro and Malacia on the pitch after the final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest on 17th May, with their departures being well known for months.
Sancho received no such message from Carrick, but the club thanked him for his service to the side. Youngsters Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe will also leave when their deals expire on 30th June.
These departures hand Carrick more work ahead of the new campaign as he plans who he and his team will aim to sign, especially in midfield which is a key area for the club. Casemiro’s departure will leave a huge void and Carrick must find the right player to step in and fill it.
