Man Utd and Baleba maintain mutual admiration

United made an attempt to sign the Cameroon international over the summer, but found Brighton's £100m-plus asking price too rich.

Baleba was keen on a move to Old Trafford, though refused to kick up a fuss at his end.

The youngster remains "open" to joining United next year - whether that be in January or June.

The Athletic reports Baleba agreed personal terms with United, where club chiefs are pleased with the player's eagerness to make the move despite their lack of European football this term.
