Estevao has 2 goals and 2 assists in 22 appearances for the West London side after signing from Brazilian side Palmeiras last summer for an initial £30m and £21M more in potential add-ons.
The winger is tipped to be one of the best players in the Premier League and therefore has the weight of the world on his shoulders as he tries to impress when given a chance.
Now, as Estevao is compared to club legends such as Hazard and Brazilian greats, Malouda has spoken to Snabbare about how the winger should be left to play his own game.
“We shouldn’t compare Estevao to Hazard. It's not going to help him. Hazard is a legendary player, won many trophies and made a big difference. But the context is totally different.
“Hazard arrived in a team who had just won the Champions League and was designed to win big trophies, he was a real added value. Estevao is coming into a team who is in transition, trying to get back to that stage.
“We are still behind the best teams in England and in Europe. So I think, and I wish, that he develops himself potentially like Hazard, but he is still young and adapting to Premier League and Champions League football.”
Hazard grabbed 85 goals and 57 assists in 245 appearances for the Blues in the Premier League alone over several years.
Estevao is just in his first season for the side and must be allowed to progress at his own pace if he is to succeed rather than being judged against former world class talents.
