As per the Liverpool Echo, The Reds will make their move for Robin van Persie's assistant Reijnen, once he has obtained those coaching badges.
His lack of qualifications meant he ran into issues with a work permit and could not join the Premier League side but reports state Slot will try again once Reijnen has completed the course.
With assistant coach Giovanni van Bronckhurst heavily linked with a return to Feyenoord, this is a big move from Slot as he seeks to establish his backroom staff ahead of next season.
Having previously worked alongside him at Feyenoord, Slot is clearly a big fan of Reijnen who could land in Merseyside over the coming months.
Interestingly, his role as an assistant at Feyenoord allows him to oversee set-pieces, and the Dutch side have scored 11 goals from set-pieces this season, and conceded only four.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have scored 15 but conceded 16 across 2025/26 under Slot who parted ways with set-piece coach Aaron Briggs earlier this season due to how poor their threat was from dead ball situations.
Concerns have been made about Slot’s future in recent months after the side were knocked out of every competition and have failed to defend the Premier League title.
However, if Slot does bring in fellow Dutchman Reijnen it could show the faith from the Liverpool board who are said to back him even if fans are massively divided.
