The 17-year-old has agreed a two-year deal that will see him continue his development at Thorp Arch.

Wood impressed for Rob Etherington’s Under-18 side last season, making 12 appearances and producing a series of strong performances.

"it's a pleasure," Wood said. "I've been here since I was 10, and it's always been the goal. It's a privilege, and hopefully it's the first of many.

"I remember as a kid, when we were Under-10s, 11s, 12s, we were always the unbeaten group. We went back-to-back futsal final winners.

“We know we've all grown, we've all done our own thing, but most of us are still together, so it's good that a lot of the lads are still with us as well.

"I think when you go through with a whole squad, I think the bond just gets stronger and stronger."
