Earlier this week Marc Cucurella urged Fernandez to join him at Real Madrid after the left-back completed a move from Chelsea .
"He's a great player and a friend of mine. He congratulated me on the signing. I hope it happens. I would be very happy. We were very happy at Chelsea, and to have the opportunity to both sign for Real Madrid in the same summer.
“I hope he's lucky and becomes a Real Madrid player."
Now, just days after Cucurella’s comments, Marca have reported that Madrid make a move for Fernandez who has been linked with the Spanish giants for over a year.
The 25 year old was punished by Chelsea in the final months of last season over comments he made during the final international break about a potential summer move to the Spanish capital.
Fernandez is a name being discussed at Madrid according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano who suggests he is the club’s only midfield target for the summer transfer window.
Chelsea sources insist the club will not stand in his way as long as their £120M valuation of the midfielder is met this summer.
Real have already confirmed the signings of Cucurella from Chelsea and Konate from Liverpool but will not stop there as they continue to snatch away talent from the Premier League who will also join the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen.
