Vardy earned legendary status during his 13-year association with the Foxes, as his goal-scoring power fired them to the Premier League title in 2016, the quarter-finals of the Champions League and an FA Cup triumph in 2021.
The 39-year-old then called time on his Leicester career in 2025 after they were relegated to the Championship to join Cremonese in Serie A.
Since then, the Englishman has continued to score goals in Italy's top division, all while creating a Netflix documentary on his career called 'Untold UK' that aired on May 12.
An opportunity to reflect on his career gave him the opportunity to speak on the Rest Is Football podcast, and he answered why he snubbed a transfer to Arsenal in 2016.
The Gunners launched a £20 million bid to sign the Englishman, triggering his release clause at the time, but Vardy decided to stay at the King Power Stadium by signing a four-year contract.
"It was one of them, it was a surreal situation," Vardy said. "I’ve never been involved in that type of thing. On paper, they were a way bigger club. I was with England that summer and when you’re away with England, you have so much time on your hands, it’s frightening.
“It gave me the space to think about everything and everything. Then I just said, ‘no, it’s not happening’.”
The rest, as they say, is history, and the iconic striker became an even bigger legend at Leicester for turning down what Arsene Wenger described as "a lot of money".
