Barcelona will not trigger Marcus Rashford's €30M clause as discussions come to a close between them and Manchester United.

After scoring 14 goals and bagging 11 assists in all competitions for Barcelona whilst on loan last season, many fans were hoping that Rashford would stay with the Spanish giants where he is much loved.

As part of the loan agreement, Barcelona can make the move permanent for around £26M but despite talks over the past few months, it looks like the deal has collapsed as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

“BREAKING: Barcelona will NOT pay €30m buy option clause for Marcus Rashford, expiring in 5 days.

“Rashford formally set to return to Man United, but Barça remain open to new solutions, like another loan deal.

“Barça are open to discuss again if #MUFC open doors.”

Marca also reported the news, stating that manager Hansi Flick believes Anthony Gordon will offer more in attack and that Rashford turns 29 in October, while Gordon only turned 25 in February.

Barcelona are also said to be unhappy with Rashford’s high wages, something that reports stated was tough to budge during negotiations between the two parties.

Manchester Evening news report that United currently have no plans to reintegrate him into Michael Carrick's squad for next season, making Rashford’s summer even trickier as he tries to concentrate on the upcoming World Cup. Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are said to be interested as he weighs up his options.
