Tottenham have emerged as shock contenders to sign Newcastle midfielder Tonali, 26, for what would be a club record deal this summer.
The North London club aren’t the only ones interested in the Italian, however, with Man City also keen on adding him to their squad.
According to The Athletic, City will look to sign both Tonali AND Nottingham Forest’s Anderson in a major midfield overhaul.
City have already had a record £120 million bid, including add-ons, turned down by Forest, as they hold out for a fee that would eclipse the £125m Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak.
It’s understood that City are planning on building a squad for incoming manager Enzo Maresca, and will back the Italian heavily.
