Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has sent a message to Premier League leaders Arsenal after beating Liverpool.

City had won only once at Anfield under Pep Guardiola during the 2020-21 season, whilst COVID-19 restrictions were in place before Sunday’s clash.

Despite this, Guardiola’s picked up a rare win against Liverpool, as they kept the pressure on the Gunners in the Premier League title race.

Speaking after the game, Haaland spoke on the win as he sent a message to rivals Arsenal, who are still 6 points ahead at the top of the table.

"Of course, and look at the emotions with the fans in the end, it was amazing. They deserve it, after supporting us, week in, week out, and, yeah, they definitely deserve to win at Anfield.

"I’ve never won here before, so it's amazing to come here and be able to win for the first time. As everyone knows, it's not easy because of the history that City and Liverpool have had for the last decade. There’s also history behind it also. So, of course, it's a good feeling."

On the win: "It’s three points, simple as that, no matter who you play, if it is Tottenham or whatever. But I know what you mean."

"We've seen before that the title race is not over until it's over."

City's win at Anfield ensured that the club achieved a league double over Liverpool for the first time since the 1936-37 season as they seek to make history and claw back the title race.

Arsenal’s gap at the top could close to three on Wednesday should Guardiola’s men defeat Fulham. The Gunners face Brentford away from home in what will be a tough test for manager Mikel Arteta who will be feeling the pressure.
