Rodri has been working his way back from knee surgery this season and Guardiola is in no doubt how important the midfielder is to City's hopes.
Guardiola said, "I would love for Rodri to sign a new contract with Manchester City, desperately.
"Rodri is Rodri; a player of his age, with wisdom and understanding. There are players who, when they're on the pitch, make us feel better.
