Manchester City outcast Jack Grealish has agreed to return to pre-season training alone this week as he ponders his future.

Grealish would have to take a serious pay cut on his £300,000-a-week deal at City for any deal to go ahead this summer after being told that he is surplus to requirements by manager Pep Guardiola who has no use for him in the new campaign.

The 29-year-old has been unable to tie down a place as a regular starter under Guardiola in recent seasons and started just seven Premier League games last term despite the winger once being deemed as one of the best in the Premier League.

Now, as reported by the Daily Mail, Grealish has returned to training a week early while other City stars continue to enjoy the rest of their holidays after an exhausting Club World Cup tournament which saw City knocked out by Al-Hilal in a brutal 4-3 defeat.

Grealish had been working with his personal trainer to ensure he is in the best condition for any club who may be interested in snapping up the England international who has been on a steep decline in recent years.

What is clear is that the next six weeks will be crucial for Grealish and the clock is ticking for the winger who may have to leave the club on loan rather than a permanent deal due to his high wages that not many clubs can afford. His trainer Jamie Reynolds has worked with a host of big-name sports stars, including Marcus Rashford who is in the same boat as Grealish before the new campaign.
