Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara has suggested that Morgan Gibbs-White should sue Nottingham Forest over their legal proceedings.

Gibbs-White was due to undergo a medical at Spurs last week but Forest have halted the deal as they raised questions over how the club knew what his release clause was and how they contacted him without permission this summer.

Tottenham decided to trigger Gibbs-White's release clause, but the transfer has been put on hold after Forest wrote a letter of complaint to the Premier League in what they suggest is a matter of tapping up, which could cause the deal to collapse.

Forest need attacking reinforcements, having sold Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United for £52M and their desperate attempt to keep the England international could work. Now, former Spurs playmaker Jamie O'Hara has suggested that Gibbs-White should sue his side for trying to halt his move.

"Morgan Gibbs-White should go to the PFA, he should sue Nottingham Forest, and he should refuse to train," O'Hara told Grosvenor Sport. "I think Forest are a disgrace, the way they have dealt with the situation is disgusting.

"He has signed a contract and there's a release clause of 60 million pounds in there. He knows it's in there, his agent knows it's in there and Nottingham Forest know that it's in there. He has agreed to that contract on those terms, whether he has become a better player at Forest that is worth more than 60 million, that’s on him.”

Reports state that Nottingham Forest have no intention of backing down from their legal battle with Tottenham, which O’Hara thinks is a disgrace and that Gibbs-White must take action before he is stuck at the side.

"Evangelos Marinakis (Forest owner) has had an absolute stinker and his club are going to lose Morgan Gibbs-White for 60M because he’s done better than they expected and someone found out. It's a disgrace.

"A player can tell who he wants about his contract, he's earned it, and they were all happy to sign it at the time. Now suddenly it's illegal, what on earth are they on about? It's disgusting."
