Manchester United and Barcelona are expected to start negotiations over Marcus Rashford this week.

Barcelona have until June 15th to activate a release clause in Rashford’s deal which would enable them to sign him for around £26M from United in the summer.

However, reports have long claimed that the Spanish giants, despite their size, are keen to enter talks with United over lowering the price for the England international.

The 28-year-old has 11 goals and 13 assists in 41 appearances so far for the La Liga side this season and has thrived under manager Hansi Flick since he arrived last summer.

Now, The Sun report that there are expected to be fresh talks between Rashford’s camp and Barcelona before the second leg of their tie against Atletico Madrid. Barcelona will attempt to lower the price but reports state that United believe the £26M fee is fair for such a world-class talent.

Rashford won't give up

Barcelona fell to a 2-0 loss on Wednesday night, hurting their chances of progressing to the Semi Final of the Champions League.

Rashford, whose future is still undecided, spoke after the game about the loss which was tough to take.

“I have to say the mindset and the intent that we had to try to get back into the game is unbelievable.

“We are going to have to use this and we’re going to need all of this in the next game in order to come back. Because we know what we are capable of.

“When we are playing in our highest level, we can take the game away from anybody. So we have to look to do this in the next game.

“This team is always going to create chances because there is just so much quality in the team, in possession, in the midfield. We can play out from the back. In possession is no problem.

“We just need to go with the intent to score the goals. On Wednesday the goal didn’t go in. But we cannot shy away from the responsibility to try to take these chances. Because on another day, on another night, they go in.”
