Club sources say Edu is working as normal and has attended Forest's past three games.
The same sources insist the Brazilian is not being forced out, though there is an expectation the former Arsenal chief will leave the City Ground at the end of the season.
Forest are 17th in the Premier League and level on points with West Ham, outside the relegation zone only on goal difference.
