Fernandes said on the Wayne Rooney Show: “First of all, everyone knows about your hard work off the ball.
“People might think ‘Ah, too offensive,’ but when you have players who can defend as well as attack, like you did, we wouldn’t have any problems doing that ‘dirty side’ of the game.”
He also said: “On the ball, the way you make those runs behind, I really like that.
“You need players who can make the pass and with you by my side, or one ahead or one behind, we’d both be in one-v-one situations with the keeper more often.”
Bruno then admitted: “It would have been a privilege to play with you. I’ve watched you many times and it would’ve been amazing to share a pitch with you.”
