Estevao Willian set to miss the Newcastle United clash this weekend as he picks up a muscle injury.

The Brazilian was not included in the match day squad for the Carabao Cup clash on Tuesday night, in which Alejandro Garnacho grabbed a brace to secure Chelsea’s spot in the Semi-Final.

Manager Enzo Maresca was also unable to provide a return date for the summer signing, as he admitted that the 18-year-old will not feature for the side this weekend.

"He had a small problem, a muscle problem.

“He won't be available for Newcastle, and we'll see for the next one."

The teenagers has bagged five goals in 21 appearances so far and has been a revelation in attack for Maresca, who has put a lot of faith in the youngster since his arrival from Palmeiras in the summer.

It is unclear when Estevao could return as the Christmas break approaches in a week’s time. Tyrique George took Estevao's expected place on the right flank and could start against Newcastle once more as the weekend approaches.

Estevao has established himself as a key player at Stamford Bridge and although he is injured, a rest away from the pitch may be beneficial for the winger after an intense start to the campaign.
