Declan Rice is set to be ready to start for England against Panama as injury claims are cleared up.

England remain level with Ghana at the top of Group L which sets up a tricky final matchday as each side aims for 3 points for a chance to finish top of the pile.

The Three Lions face Panama, a side bottom of the group with zero points, but surprisingly only 2 goals conceded after losing their opening games.

Chelsea defender Reece James is being closely monitored by medical staff whilst Bukayo Saka is still suffering from an Achilles issue.

The biggest concern for manager Thomas Tuchel however is Rice who left the stadium with heavy strapping on his leg due to a suspected calf injury.

Reports claimed the Arsenal star would miss the Panama clash this weekend as a safety precaution but according to The Sun this is not the case. The report claims that Rice will be okay to play under Tuchel if needed and that his injury is not as serious as first suggested.

Rice has been managing neural pain in his hamstring for the last six months and has been wearing compression socks to help his hamstrings and back.

Rice unlikely to start despite injury relief

After being taken off during England’s 4-2 win over Croatia last week, he said: “I think it was a smart decision (to be taken off).

“I was feeling a little bit of neural pain in my hamstring, which I was managing from after Christmas with Arsenal for a very long time.

“Obviously, not a lot of people would have known that. It was all behind the scenes stuff.

“That last twenty minutes is where you really feel your body going through it.

“And I think it was a smart decision because the last few days I felt really, really good.”

Rice will be fit to start against Panama but as he still has minor injury concerns as well as a yellow card which would lead to suspension if he picked up another this weekend, he is unlikely to feature.
