The MKM Stadium hosts the first of Saturday's Premier League fixtures as Hull welcome United in what is an unpredictable affair between two teams who have not met since 2017 when they drew 0-0.
Carrick helped steer Manchester United in the direction of Champions League qualification last season whilst Hull boss Sergej Jakirović helped his side back to the English top flight following a play off win against Middlesbrough.
Hull are back in the Premier League for the first time since 2016-17 and will have the home crowd behind them on Saturday as Carrick revealed before the clash that he knows the game won’t be easy.
"That's the beauty of the new season. I think certainly for teams coming up in the league, for the most part there tends to be quite a few changes within the group, the playing group.
"It's always the challenge when you're playing against them. There's that freshness, there's that buzz around the football club of coming into the Premier League and what that brings.
"We're fully aware of that. We'll be prepared, obviously, mentally and physically. We've done a lot of work anyway. But mentally, we'll be prepared. We know what the game is going to bring and how good we need to be to get the right result.
"Very much looking forward to the first game and a tough one on Saturday."
United are understandably strong favourites to come away with all three points but it won’t be a walk in the park for Carrick’s side who will face a Tigers side who will be fighting for their lives this season.
