Wilson, 34, spent last season at West Ham, scoring seven goals and providing one assist as the East London club were relegated on the final day of the Premier League.
Things could have been very different, however. Should his goal against Arsenal have counted, he would have likely kept the Hammers in the English top flight.
Despite his decent showing, West Ham decided against renewing his contract, and he was released on July 1st.
According to BBC Sport, Brentford are now set to sign the former England striker on an initial 12-month deal.
It’s understood that Wilson will provide competition for Brazilian Igor Thiago, who is expected to stay at the club.
