Arsenal have reportedly been dealt a Bruno Guimaraes injury blow ahead of their Premier League opener against Coventry on Friday (August 21).

Guimaraes, 28, joined Arsenal from Newcastle for a reported £75 million earlier in the summer, and started the 3-0 Community Shield win over Man City.

According to journalist Luke Edwards, the midfielder has picked up an ‘untimely injury’ just as his Arsenal career was getting underway.

He adds that it is as yet unknown just how long Guimaraes will be out for, but it could be a matter of weeks before we see him return.

Arsenal kick off their bid to retain the Premier League trophy for the first time in their history with a visit from newly promoted Coventry on Friday (August 21).
