Chelsea are selling Felix to the Saudis for a mooted €30m, with the deal to be closed this week.
In reaction, Mendelewitsch told RMC: "João Félix is no longer a footballer, he's a money-making machine. He hasn't played football for a long time.
"He's a money-making machine, and with his own approval, since he doesn't rebel. He should have taken control of his career a long time ago and not allowed people to decide for him and send him to projects he doesn't like.
"Seeing his potential is sad. But it's an example of what not to do when you're a young player with potential. He goes to Atlético Madrid for 126 million euros, to a club where he didn't fit in football. And then Chelsea spends 50 million..."
