Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has spoken on his former Argentina teammate Lionel Messi.

Messi, often dubbed the best player of all time, made 778 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 672 times with over 300 assists to his name.

The 8 time Ballon d’Or winner won ten league titles with the side, four Champions League titles and 7 Copa del Rey titles as he established himself as a club legend.

Now, the 38 year old is approaching the end of his career as he continues to impress for Inter Miami in the MLS.

Despite leaving Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain, Aguero revealed to Stake that Messi will want to say a proper goodbye to the Spanish side who still adore him.

“Leo will do whatever he feels. One year he will look at the contract. If he feels good physically, he’s happy and calm, he’ll continue very calmly. Obviously, knowing Leo, he is very competitive and he hates losing. But he is in a very beautiful city, very comfortable. Many Latinos love him and he feels that affection.

“I think it all depends on his physical condition. Looking at him today I think he can play calmly. If I were him I would stay here even if it’s only five minutes. But if he’s okay we’ll know in a few months. After the World Cup and the MLS season he has one year left. I don’t think he’s thinking about what he will do in 2028.

“He will always be related to that club (Barcelona). I imagine his dream is to say goodbye there as he deserves. That is the dream of every Barça fan.”

Messi remains Barcelona’s record goalscorer and will forever be remembered as one of the best players to ever pull on the shirt. As he enters the final stage of his career he may think about heading back to Catalonia to wave farewell before hanging up his boots.
