Egypt international Mostafa Mohamed is among the key talking points as FC Nantes return to pre-season training following a disastrous campaign that ended in relegation to Ligue 2.

The club endured a chaotic season, cycling through three managers before ultimately dropping out of France’s top flight.

They finished the campaign under interim boss Vahid Halilhodzic, who was unable to prevent relegation and has since left the club. Michel Der Zakarian has now returned for a third spell in charge, tasked with leading Nantes back to Ligue 1 at the first attempt.

However, there is significant uncertainty over the squad, with Johann Lepenant linked with a move away and Matthis Abline attracting interest, although Nantes are holding firm on a €40m valuation.

Mohamed has reportedly missed the start of pre-season, with Ouest-France stating the club are unsure of his whereabouts. Der Zakarian has not yet spoken to him and he may not be part of future plans.
