Paul Pogba opened up on the mental toll of his injuries issues while at Monaco after he finally made his first start for the club.

The 33-year-old joined Ligue 1 side Monaco as a free agent last summer, his first club since his 18-month doping ban.

Pogba has struggled with several fitness issues throughout the season, however, and only managed to make his first start in their 2-1 win over Metz on Saturday (May 2).

Speaking to Ligue 1 Plus after the game, Pogba revealed the depth of his frustration, saying: “Honestly, there were times when I was like, ‘That’s it, it’s getting on my nerves.’

“I do everything, I come, I’m here, and it doesn’t stop, it just keeps going. I was thinking, ‘What more do I have to do to avoid all this?’ And actually, it’s about time and patience.

“You have to have the patience to keep going and not give up.”
