Nancy has been without a job since leaving Celtic in January, but the Frenchman could now be in line for a return to Ligue 1 management.
He has previously made clear his ambition to work again in France and recently reiterated that desire in an interview with RMC Sport.
“It’s true that, in the past three years, there’s been no reason to complain because French clubs wanted to work with me. It is a question of timing, and the timing wasn’t right at the time. Now, I want to come to Ligue 1, if there is an opportunity. I am not the one who decides, but I am ready,” he said.
Lorient are currently seeking a replacement after Olivier Pantaloni’s departure following a strong season back in Ligue 1.
Will Still had been linked with the role but now appears set for AJ Auxerre, leaving Nancy as a serious option for Les Merlus.
